The Lady Behind Bijoux Wigs

For those who are new here, Hi! My name is Danielle!

Now you can put a name to the face you see on the Bijoux Wigs’ Instagram page.

For those wondering about the story behind Bijoux, here is my personal journey with hair loss.

I have always had very fine hair and because of this, I was a long time extension wearer. Around five years ago, I became aware that my hair was not only fine, but that it was also starting to thin out.

I was in denial about the fact that I was losing my hair. Between extensions, root sprays and daily Minoxidil applications, I hoped that I could somehow successfully camouflage or stop the hair loss progression.

However, in 2020, when the hair salons had to close down during the global pandemic, I was unable to get my extensions redone and had a panicked “what now” moment, where I found myself unsure of where to turn. At that point, I didn’t personally know of other women who were experiencing the same hair loss issues as me, so I decided to look online and see what was out there.

That was the most important step I made. I found so many other women’s personal journeys online, and I also found the wonderful world of alternative hair!

I took the plunge and tried some different wigs - but could never find “the one”, or one  that I was REALLY happy with. I had certain criteria in mind that I wanted, but just couldn’t find.

After much trial and error, I decided to create my own wig company so I could offer wigs to women that were to the standards that I personally wanted for my own wigs.

Over the past two and a half years, Bijoux has allowed me to grow and expand on my own journey, while also giving me the opportunity to work with so many amazing women. I am beyond grateful for the support that I’ve found in the wig and hair loss community.

We decided to start a blog called Bijoux Bisous and we am looking forward to sharing more of the personal side behind Bijoux with you.
